Fluffy’s Holiday Wish List

December 15, 2022

Happy Holidays! Have you finished your shopping yet? Your kitty will be more than happy to help with wrapping and decorating. Fluffy may not be that useful, but she still deserves a special gift of her own. A Middletown, DE vet lists some holiday gifts for cats in this article.

Catnip

Toys are the most popular kitty gift, and with good reason. Watching Fluffy hard at play is always fun! Of course, not all cats are sensitive to catnip. If Fluffy seems immune to it, try offering her honeysuckle toys instead. You can also give your furball wheat grass, or cat grass, as it is sometimes called.

Boxes

Fluffy’s box obsession will never stop being cute. Offer your furball some empty boxes. Or, better yet, make her a box castle! (Tip: this can be a cute project for kids.)

Scratchers

Fluffy is very diligent about keeping up with her nail care regimens … though many people wish she didn’t use their furniture for this. Make sure your furry friend has a good manicure station. A cat tower is a purrfect gift!

Laser Pointers

Your cat may never tire of batting her favorite ball (or bottlecap) down the hall, but she should also have toys that you can use for interactive play. Laser pointers, wand toys, remote-controlled playthings … these can all be super fun for feisty furballs!

Beds

Our feline friends are collectively exhausted. Kitties can sleep up to 20 hours a day, though most somehow manage to get by on 12-14 hours. A new bed is always a great gift for Fluffy!

Treats

Although some kitties will turn their little noses up at treats, most cats do have a few favorite snacks. Store-bought treats are fine, though you may need to experiment to find out what Fluffy likes. Ask your vet for specific advice.

Bonus

Cats are very, very good at getting us to pamper them. If Fluffy could write down her ultimate holiday score, you could probably expect your furball to request (or demand) not just toys and treats, but a box castle, complete with lots of beds and scratchers, a catnip garden, and, of course, a fully stocked moat. Of course, plain old TLC will also get that motor going. Pay lots of attention to Fluffy this month!
