New Year’s Resolutions for Cats

January 1, 2021

Happy New Year! And, to our feline patients, Happy Mew Years! (Fluffy will actually celebrate her holiday tomorrow: January 2nd is Mew Year’s Day for kitties.) If your furry little buddy could make resolutions, what do you think her goals would be? Here, a Galena, MD vet lists some things Fluffy may want to accomplish this year.

Master Yoga

You may have noticed that kitties are naturally quite flexible. Fluffy may try to stretch a bit more this year. Or, she may try sleeping in some advanced positions, such as the Knot or the Pretzel.

Run Faster

Does your playful pet sometimes race down the hall in the middle of the night, for no reason that you can see? Fluffy may want to increase her sprint times over the coming year.

Get Lots Of Rest

Did you know that senior cats can sleep up to 20 hours a day? It will take Fluffy years of not-so-hard practice to manage that many naps. Your sleepy pet may try to increase her snoozing times a bit in 2021.

Catch That Red Dot

Kitties are always adorable when they are feeling playful. Fluffy is super fun to watch when she’s trying to catch that elusive red spot!

Work On The Pounce

It’s always adorable watching a playful cat pouncing on her toy. Fluffy may want to jump higher this year. Or, she may want to work on some combos, like that tricky Run/Jump/Roll/Kick one. Help your furball achieve this goal by offering her lots of fun toys and playing with her daily.

Repel Intruders

Although some cats do bravely chase off dangerous intruders, such as robbers and bears, most of our feline pals probably have somewhat smaller goals. Fluffy may want to make sure that she keeps you safe from any unauthorized moths or dust bunnies.

Complete World Domination

This one may sound a bit fur-fetched, but if you think about it, it really isn’t that unreasonable. After all, Fluffy does dominate the internet!

Train You

If Fluffy doesn’t manage to take control over the world, she may have to settle for a less lofty goal: getting you to feed her on demand.

Please reach out if ever we can be of assistance. As your Galena, MD animal clinic, we look forward to providing your feline overlord with great veterinary care in 2021 and beyond!
